VSI / TCAS
You can optionally enable the digital VSI with embedded TCAS via the clipboard. This automatically replaces the transponder device to a more modern standard including all TCAS modes.
Traffic Advisory - Solid amber circle indicates an intruder is entering the Cautio Area.
Resolution Advisory - Solid red square indicates an intruder is entering the Warning Area.
Proximate Traffic - A solid blue or white diamond indicates that traffic is within 6 nautical miles or the range capability of the display, +/- 1200 FT vertically and not generating RA or TA. Proximate Traffic is shown to improve situational awareness in the event a potential conflict occurs with higher priority RA or TA aircraft.
Other Traffic - Hollow blue or white diamond indicates any transponder replying traffic within the range of the display, within 2700 FT vertically and not classified as an intruder or proximate traffic. Predicated flight paths of Proximate and Other Traffic do not penetrate the collision Area.
Self Test Indication - Momentarily pressing the TEST Switch activates the self test feature for 8 seconds.
TA LOGIC
TA will display 20-45 seconds before the alert aircraft is projected to enter the collision area.
TA is indicated with a "TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC" aural callout and the aircraft's icon on the display becoming AMBER.
TA will not be indicated for intruders below 380 ft AGL.
RA LOGIC
RA will sound 15-25 seconds before the alert aircraft is projected to enter the collision area.
RA is indicated on the display by the aircraft's icon becoming RED, the VSI tape becoming colored (the range of all VS that will NOT avoid the collision will be taped red, while the required VS for collision avoidance will be taped green).
