# Navdata Updater

We use a custom-built navdata format that allows us to query and process data independently of any specific application, with very high performance. Unfortunately, Navigraph cannot provide this file format directly through their app.

{% hint style="info" %}
The recommended way to update navdata is from the aircraft **EFB**. Use **navdata-updater.exe** only as a fallback if the in-sim download is not available.
{% endhint %}

A Navigraph navdata subscription is required for either method.

## Update from the EFB (recommended)

1. Open the **EFB**.
2. Go to **Settings**.
3. Select the **Navdata** tab at the bottom.
4. Press **Authenticate** and sign in to your Navigraph account (URL and verification code).
5. After sign-in, the page shows:
   * **AIRAC installed** — cycle currently used by the aircraft
   * **Source** — **Base Aircraft Package (bundled)** or **Work (downloaded)**
   * **Available** — latest Navigraph cycle, with *(Update available)* when a newer cycle can be installed
6. Press **Download** if an update is available.
7. When the status reads *Navdata saved – please reload the flight*, reload the flight so the new cycle is loaded.

Use **Sign out** to switch Navigraph accounts.

See also EFB Settings.

## Fallback: navdata-updater.exe

If the EFB download cannot be used, run **navdata-updater.exe** from the aircraft folder (in the MSFS Packages directory).

If paths are not detected automatically, click **Add Path** and navigate to your `Community` folder. Open `fss-aircraft-e17x`, `fss-aircraft-e19x`, or `fss-aircraft-e19xf`, then `fss-wasm-data`.

For authentication, use the modern consent link or classic Navigraph code sign-in.
