# CREW ALERTING SYSTEM (CAS)

CAS window operation and simulated EICAS crew alerting messages in the aircraft model.

### CREW ALERTING SYSTEM (CAS) WINDOW

* Four message priority levels:
  * WARNING (red): Indicates an emergency or airplane system condition that requires immediate corrective or compensatory crew action.
  * CAUTION (amber): Indicates an abnormal operational or airplane system conditions that require immediate crew awareness and should require a subsequent corrective or compensatory action.
  * ADVISORY (cyan): Indicates operational or airplane conditions that require crew awareness. Subsequent or future crew action may be required.
  * STATUS (white): Indicates information/ status messages.
    * STATUS LINE
  * Selected by using the CCD. Turning the active CCD scroll knobs scrolls the alert message stack list under the CAS window.
  * Indicates the number and type of messages out of the CAS window, and if they are located above or below.
  * Warning messages are not scrolled out of the window.

***

### ROOT EICAS MESSAGES

* EICAS messages which may generate more messages with them are called Root EICAS messages and they are highlighted by a preceding chevron `>`.

***

### EICAS MESSAGE INHIBITION

* Some EICAS messages are inhibited on takeoff or approach and landing to prevent it from being a nuisance.

***

## Simulated CAS messages

The full EICAS catalog lists many more annunciations. This section covers messages currently driven by the aircraft WASM model. Use the priority tabs, then open a system group to read when each message appears.

**ENG 1 OIL LO LEVEL**

**ENG 2 OIL LO LEVEL**

**ENG NO TAKEOFF DATA**

Caution on the ground when takeoff data is incomplete or inconsistent: V-speeds, flap setting, thrust rating, temperature, flex data, or FADEC/MCDU dataset agreement. Suppressed during takeoff (80 kt to 400 ft AGL) and for 120 s after landing. Also suppressed when flaps are up.

**ENG REF A-I DISAG**

Caution when REF A/I in the T/O DATASET MENU does not match the overhead ice protection configuration (OFF, ENG, or ALL) while below 1,700 ft RA and not in landing mode. Clears above 1,700 ft RA or 120 s after takeoff.

**ENG REF ECS DISAG**

Caution when REF ECS in the MCDU T/O DATASET MENU (TRS → TO DATASET) does not match the actual bleed configuration used for FADEC takeoff N1. The MCDU setting is ON or OFF; the aircraft is treated as ECS ON only when both packs are on, both engine bleeds are open, no APU bleed is supplying the manifold, and Pack 1 is not held off by the emergency ram air valve built-in test. Active below 1,700 ft radio altitude, not in landing mode, with both engines running. Clears when the mismatch ends or 120 s after takeoff.

First flight of the day (ERAV BIT): on the first engine start of each UTC flight day the emergency ram air valve runs a \~90 s built-in test and holds Pack 1 off. With REF ECS ON, this caution can appear until the test completes. Spawn in turnaround mode in EFB Settings → Aircraft skips the ERAV BIT on that spawn.

Engines on + APU bleed on: with both engines running and APU bleed open, bleed air comes from the APU (FADEC ECS OFF) even if packs stay on. REF ECS ON then disagrees. Close APU bleed or set REF ECS OFF. REF ECS does not command the packs; it is the takeoff N1 assumption. See AIR COND / PNEUMATIC and SYSTEMS/ECS (MFD).

**ENG TLA NOT TOGA**

Caution when thrust levers are not in the TOGA detent by 60 kt during takeoff.
