MEDEVAC / SMP CONFIG

This section contains supplemental information to operate, in a safe and efficient manner, the aircraft when configured for MedEvac or SMP configuration.

LIMITATIONS

The operation of mission system is mutually exclusive with the operation of air conditioning system. Consider equipment availability according to the following table:

When performing Engine Preflight Test, take into account that the ECS operates an RPM drop. For this reason, be sure that the PFT is performed at least at 1500rpm.

When mission system is operated in reduced power mode, a maximum of 60A is available for mission system. In this condition, air conditioning system (RH side) can be operated normally.

In addition, during operations with mission system ON and both engines alternators functioning properly, consider the following additional limitations:

  • Combustion heater: it must not be activated during take-off and landing. Avoid prolonged operation in cruise.

  • Cockpit Air: only one blower (heating legs or windshield defrost) can be activated. No activation is allowed in take-off. Avoid prolonged operation in landing.

NORMAL PROCEDURES

If Reduced Mission Power Switch is ON, only 60 Amp are available for mission systems.

DESCRIPTION

The control area for the MEDEVAC / SMP electric system is located in the cockpit, upon the Environmental Panel with a dedicated selector to enable/disable MEDEVAC / SMP electric System or Air conditioning. The A/C- MISSION POWER SELECTOR Switch, is a stable position switch and allows to set three operative modes:

  • OFF: Mission and Air Conditioning Systems are disabled;

  • MISSION: Mission System is enabled and Air Conditioning System is automatically disabled;

  • A/C: Air Conditioning System is enabled and Mission System is automatically disabled;

Mission System and Air Condition are mutually exclusive. A placard is installed near the selector to highlight it.

An additional mode is available, reduced mission system power, by means of a dedicated switch. With A/C-MISSION POWER SELECTOR Switch in MISSION mode, if the REDUCED MISSION PWR is activated, the power available for mission system equipment is limited to 60 Amp but air conditioning system (only RH side) can be activated.
